This
painting was painted at the home of Ty Hodanish, my painting instructor.
He took the painting class there one sunny Saturday morning in June of
2002, since it wasn't far from where he then had his studio, in Sergentsville,
NJ. I set my easel up in his front yard with my back to the dirt road
on which he lives. His home is to the right, out of view. I have done
a more detailed closeup view of the birdhouse, but this one sets it more
firmly in its environment. I began this work on a hot summer day and worked
on it for about two and a half hours. I returned a week or so later for
an additional two hours, then did some minor detail work at home for about
another hour -- perhaps less. I completed it in July, so that's when it
is dated. |
