Oil painting - "Fonthill Garage," 2003 - 2004

Prallsville Mill

35" x 22.5"

Quite a large painting, for me -- my largest to date (January 2005). This is not even the main building at the Fonthill Museum. It's the garage! Well, it was the garage. Now it's used for meetings and classes. I love the Fonthill buildings because they look different from every vantage, being almost completely asymmetrical. This piece took three sessions just to draw. And by the time I started painting it, in 2003, I had lost the season's light and had to come back in 2004 to complete it. While working on this painting I completed two small views of details of its structure. One is here, and one is here.
