Oil painting - "Barn at Rosemont," September, 2002

Rosemont Barn

I must have a thing for oddly colored buildings. This complex of connected barn, outbuilding and silo is just down the block from one of our favorite restaurnats, the Cafe at Rosemont. It is a delightful blue-green in color. I started the piece on a cloudy day, which muted the colors somewhat. I was standing in a cemetary directly across the road from the barn, which is why the piece is subtitled "Opposite Paul Sandford's Grave." I didn't finish that day because I was rained out after about two hours. In order to work on it again I had to wait for another cloudy-almost-raining type of day, which didn't come around again for nearly a month. It was worth the wait.
